New York Knickerbocker Bank $5 Proof
Grade:
PCGS Ch. New 63
Haxby 1675-G8a. This bank did not last long, opening in 1851 and already out of business by 1854. Printed on white paper with good margins and excellent eye appeal. The central vignette is presumably of housing in New York City at that time. With the visage of utter civility, Father Knickerbocker seated at right, leaning on his cane and smoking a pipe. The $2 Proof is a Santa Claus note so this denomination is one of your only real chances of ownership.
