The Globe mining district was formed in 1872, with silver and then copper becoming the mainstays of this isolated area, about 100 miles from anywhere, but in the midst of the Apache, who were not at all enamored with the new settlers, and letting that be known. Stories of just about everyone who was trouble in the early days of Arizona can be connected to Globe in some form that there is a rich history. There are three territorials known on this bank, including a red seal and another blue seal of about the same grade. This note is pen signed by J.N. Porter, President, and J.N. Robinson, Cashier. This note was part of the holdings of Amon Carter which I handled in 1984. My notation with the Globe note stated this was one of two great Arizona territorials I had acquired, apparently another came later. Dated October 22, 1902. From the Huntoon Collection.
