This is a rare large size note from this Hamilton County bank as there are only two large size recorded. This note is a beauty with excellent centering and purple stamped signatures. The note cost $2,860 in 1998. Dahlgren is named for John A. Dahlgren, a Navy officer who was responsible for the creation of the Ordnance Department of the Navy, as well as several advances in cannon and howitzer technology. He had no direct relation to the town but had recently died when the town was established (1870), so it was named in his honor.
