There are 29 large notes recorded on this Vermilion County bank, with this being the only $50 Brown Back known. There are two $100s known that may appear someday. This note has excellent pen signatures and big margins as well. Danville s land first went up for sale in 1827. By the 1850s it had become a center for industry and coal mining as one of the first uses of open pit mining. It suffered after World War 2 with the closing of the mines and the departure of much of the industry.
