This bank loved to issue high denomination notes. This example is one of number of small size known, and is also one of the finest. Danville s land first went up for sale in 1827. By the 1850s it had become a center for industry and coal mining as one of the first uses of open pit mining. It suffered after World War 2 with the closing of the mines and the departure of much of the industry.
