Here is a cool First Charter from this Ogle County bank that has seven large notes reported. Last year we sold an uncut sheet of $1-1-1-2, all nice VF + notes like this $5. There is also a low grade $5 and a Second and Third Charter. Great color and excellent pen signatures on this note. The first European settler to the land that would become the town of Oregon, John Phelps, arrived in 1833. He was instrumental in the setup of the early settlement, organizing as a village in 1838 as Oregon City.
