Grade:
VF/XF
A bright and well centered example of the second title for this bank. One of 14 large notes recorded and with a June 1918 date. Bold black signatures. Pekin was surveyed in 1829 and named by the wife of one of the first landowners, who thought that their new town was exactly across the world from Peking, China. Pekin was divided during the Civil War, having both northern and southern settlers. There was an Underground Railroad stop in the town and was the site of the first organizational meeting of the Union League of America.
