This was the only national bank in town and there are only 10 large notes recorded. This amazing and beautiful Brown Back with excellent pen signatures is the finest known note on the town. There is only one other lower grade known. DeLand is a village in Piatt County. DeLand was founded in 1873 by Thomas E. Bondurant. who had it laid out as an answer to the needs of the local farmers for a place from which to ship their grain without hauling it for a very long distance.
