Purple stamped signatures offer a glimpse into the past. This note with nice paper quality is 1 of 11 large notes recorded. Geneseo was the idea of seven Christian families who had decided to form a frontier church. They traveled through the winter of 1836 from Geneseo, NY, while their town was under construction. It saw little growth until the arrival of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad in 1854, soaring the population to ten times its previous 500.
