This bank issued large and small size and most of the ones known must be tightly held. There are 24 large and 23 small notes recorded with only 6 appearances. This note has great signatures of Geo. W. Johns, Vice President and U.S. Staley, Cashier. Fairfield was first settled in 1819 and remained quiet for its first few decades, owing much of its eventual development to railroad access. It is most known as the hometown of the Shelton Brothers Gang, bootleggers who met their end at the hands of the Chicago Mob.
