Amazing & Rare $50 Brown Back Ch. AU
National Bank Notes > Illinois
Englewood, First NB, M4073
Fr. 512 $50 1882BB
Grade:
Ch. AU
This is one amazing note from this Cook County (Chicago) bank these days. There were 1,048 each of the $50 and $100 Brown Backs printed and this is the only surviving $50. The paper quality and centering are very desirable and the cashier's signature is pretty elaborate. There are only two other large notes recorded, a 1902 Date Back $10 in Fine 15 and a $5 Brown Back in Good 6. If you want a good one then this is your chance. Englewood is a community in Chicago that saw early settlement and success with the city s expansion. After the Great Chicago fire in 1871, Englewood became a major relocation point for people moving from the core of the city because of its rail connections and easy commuting. It was also the residence of Dr. H. H. Holmes, an early American serial killer.
