A well used note with no signatures and cut close. One of only eight other large notes recorded on this late chartered bank, the other notes are mostly used as well. Gillespie enjoyed its greatest success in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a coal mining center. The first settlers arrived in 1825 but there was nothing as formalized as even a post office until 1854.
