Lot #3259 - Burns, First NB, P6295

National Bank Notes > Oregon

Burns, First NB, P6295
Fr. 587 $5 1902RS
Grade: XF/AU
Two national banks were located in this remote Harney County community, and both elected to issue Red Seals. The First National Bank is the most available bank, with 14 large notes in the census, six of which are Red Seals. The majority came from this first sheet of $5s. There are only about a dozen serial #1s known on the state, so when one is offered, collectors take notice. A sheet mate to this #1 was recently auctioned, bringing $28,750. Here is an opportunity for the under bidder. Interested bidders should realize that the recent auction appearance just mentioned was the only offering of a #1 Oregon Red Seal at auction since a #1 Albany in the same grade auctioned for over $60,000 back in 2005. This note is a beauty with precise signatures and an unblemished surface. Signed by John D. Daly, President, and N. V. Carpenter, Cashier. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
