National Bank Notes > Oregon
Forest Grove, First NB, P8036
Fr. 614 $10 1902RS
Grade:
Ch. AU, rust
Forest Grove had two national banks and both issued Red Seals, but examples of the type have only survived form the First National Bank. Sheet issue of Red Seals was small, numbering just 950 sheets. Today, only two of the dozen large notes recorded on the bank are Red Seals. One is only Fine, the other this striking, full-margined and well-signed AU. Its one flaw is some rust marking the position of an old paper clip, no doubt the reason the note survived for you to bid on. Purchased from the 2004 FUN sale at $23,000 and formally owned by Dustin Gibson, a significant collector of Oregon Nationals. Wonderful pen signatures of R. M. Dooly, President, and Gordon S. Ogden, Cashier, grace this enviable Oregon Red Seal. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
