Oregon is one of the more difficult states on which to find a Red Seal. Fortunately, a number of these breathtaking Baker City Red Seals were saved. One of three banks in town, they issued 4,040 sheets of Red Seals and today this type is the most available note on this charter. There are still not enough of them, however, to supply all who wish to have a high-grade Oregon Red Seal in their state set. This example would have easily qualified for a Gem, as it is endowed with deep original embossing, superb color and good margins. A slight vertical bend at the left forces us to lower the grade. In no way does the bend lower the visual impact of this eye-catching Red Seal. Sharp pen signatures of W. E. Grace, President, and A. E. Beard, Cashier.
