Franklin, Farmers & Merchants NB, S7402
Fr. 613 $10 1902RS
Grade: VG
An incredibly rare note from a town that is almost impossible to obtain. Although the seat of Simpson County, both of Franklin's banks were small. The First National Bank is unique, with its sole note appearing the Glenn Martin collection in 2002. This bank was unrepresented in the Martin or Gale holdings and appears here for the first time in a major public auction. Only 700 sheets of Red Seals were issued and the bank closed in 1913 after just eight-plus years in business. The note is nice for the grade, having no damage or major faults. Even the pen signatures of J.M. Crocker, President and John B. Finn, Cashier are clear and undisturbed. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
