Lot #3103 - Elizabethtown, First NB, S3042

National Bank Notes > Kentucky

Elizabethtown, First NB, S3042
Fr. 613 $10 1902RS
Grade: VG/Fine
By far the rarest of the two banks in town, this institution was liquidated on July 29, 1911 and merged into the newly named F. Hardin National Bank on the same day, with its circulation assumed by charter #6028. It makes sense that notes from the First National Bank would be pulled from circulation. They did a good job as just three Brown backs and this lone Red Seal remain. Bill Gale snatched this for his collection as it surfaced just after Glenn Martin sold his collection. Now this rarity is available again. While the note has seen some use and the left edge is a bit frayed, it is intact and any faults should be expected. Pen signed by Horace Hays, President and W.H. Robertson, Cashier. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
