This was Detroit's fourth national bank. The bank was chartered in 1865 and closed in 1885 after issuing only First Charters. This was an early Patriotic title, seldom seen earlier. There are only six notes reported, with this being a Original Series $5 with charter numbers. Dr. Lee really did try to get the best, earliest and highest denominations possible. Clear pen signatures of Geo. Bagley, Vice President and S. Arthur, Cashier. The Dr. Wallace Lee Collection.
