National Bank Notes > Nebraska

Omaha, NB, W1633
Fr. 687 $100 1902RS
Grade: VG
This highly significant $100 Red Seal is one of just four such examples known on the state. A brief look at the other three notes fails to find a single offering. It is even possible that one or more of them could be in institutional hands. It would seem that this sole example is the only $100 Red Seal from Nebraska that will be available for some time. Originally from a Stack's sale in 2007, this note appeared once again in 2008 on eBay. Even though 13 banks in the state issued this type, only four banks have a single surviving specimen each. The Omaha National Bank printed 16,750 $5-$5-$5-$5 Red Seal sheets but just 3,033 $50-$100 sheets. Even with that multitude of $5 sheets, only three $5s are reported, giving us another hint that Red Seals on Nebraska are a very difficult type to acquire. While this $100 has seen a lot of use, it is fortunate the note was not pulled by some bank for later destruction. The note was signed, but the signatures are too faint to read. Actually, a rather solid note with good underlying color. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
