These notes were issued in early 1837 despite the bank's charter being denied by the state of Ohio. This note bears the signatures of J(oseph) Smith, Jr. and S(idney) Rigdon, the founder and one of its early leaders. This is one of the notes that was reissued when the Mormons moved to Utah. As such, it is countersigned by Brigham Young, Heber C. Kimball, and Newel) K. Whitney. These reissued notes are much rarer than the originals. A fantastic note that covers a wide range of early Mormon history. This note is identified as Haxby OH 245 G8 and Rust 70. PMG notes: seal embossing.
