I am a bit surprised to see that this is the finest known of only three $1 First Charter notes known on the first bank to open in Colorado Territory. The serial #1 sold for $126,500 in 2007; this is not a #1 note, it's serial #286. It has pen signatures of G.W. Clayton, Vice President and Geo. W. Wells, Assistant Cashier. The quality is exquisite and I can see no folds but I suppose the red seal could be brighter. There are only 11 Territorials reported on this bank and seven of those are #1 and would be hard to acquire.
