Unlisted in Hessler. Presumably Act of December 23, 1857. This item was previously described by Stack's as, "Here is a set of hand constructed Essays for the faces and backs of $100, $500 and $1,000 in sheet form. Hand-drawn with built up elements of India paper and sepia photographic vignettes, mounted on large size Reynolds Bristolboard (impressed crown in circle). The counter are in red and made of India paper engraved and printed. The top two vignettes are sepia elements mounted on the board. The eagle vignette on the $1,000 note has text drawn in black pen. There is a cutout in the $500 vignette area. The backs are similar to the above, orange India paper elements built up on the board. There is a small rectangular cutout on the back's board at the lower left, away from the $1,000 impression." There is some light aging on the extreme edges. This two piece lot includes the face and back.
