There was not an argument back in the day to put the town name on the note, but do you think there would be an uproar today? If my memory serves me, travelers to this Lancaster County community would stop by the Blue Ball Tavern for social intercourse (conversation), or some such story. This name was taken in 1814, changed from Cross Keys, a far less interesting choice. My story doesn't hold much weight if the Amish named it, because I don't suppose they weren't spending their time in the tavern. This note is new to the census and has excellent stamped signatures.
