A lovely example of the classic "forbidden title." The Act of May 24, 1926, forbade the use of the words "United States," among others, in a bank's title. However, this bank was chartered as the United States National Bank in 1933, one of just two banks in the nation chartered after 1926 and so named. This note is not to be confused with the extremely common notes of charter 5913, also from this town and bearing a similar title. This is the true "forbidden title" example. Extremely desirable and highly sought after but seldom available, with just two dozen examples reported, far too few for the many savvy collectors who want one in their collections.
