November 26, 1862. A lightly circulated scrip fractional issued by this merchant firm during the Civil War to facilitate making change. Jeremiah Jones and Alonzo H. Sawyer were both listed as traders in the 1860 federal census, while Sawyer also served as the town's postmaster during the Lincoln administration.
