Second Issue Complete Reverse Experimental Set

An intriguing set of all four Second Issue experimental backs that have been cut out so that there is just the design. All have the two half-moon cancels and purple stamped 'SPECIMEN' across the middle. Originally offered as item 24 from Ed Frossard's 'List #8' of Fractional Experimental, which was the sale of Spencer Morton Clark's own notes. They resurfaced many decades later as lot #90 of Milt Friedberg's collection sold by CAA in January 1997. Nobody really knows why these were cut out but, who cares, they are neat as is.
