Washington Bullion Bank $5
Grade:
PCGS Ch. Abt. New 55 PPQ
Haxby 170-G8a. Oct. 30, 1861. The $5 and $10 notes on this bank were much scarcer than the lower denomination remainders. Those were printed with the green back design whereas this has a blank back and was printed by the National Bank Note Co. It has full margins on all sides and it has some of the richest ink colors that we have seen on this type. Fully issued with partially handwritten date and handwritten serial number. Bainbridge and Thompson signed as cashier and president below. Circular portrait of Washington at lower right and Washington's tomb at Mount Vernon seen at upper left. Elegantly clad women seen at center below curving bank title. They do not get much nicer than this and the note is 100% original and looks the part of a much better grade.
