Rare June 20, 1775 Paul Revere Copperplate Note

Colonial Currency > New Hampshire

NH-128 6 Shillings June 20, 1775
Grade: PCGS Apparent VG 8     PCGS
A rare issue with notes engraved on copper and printed on laid paper by Paul Revere (hence the term 'copperplate' note). These notes are similar in style to the May 25, 1775 Massachusetts note but are far scarcer. Signed by Nicholas Gilman as Receiver General and also by an E. Thompson. PCGS lists all the problems that one would expect for a scarce, larger format note: splits, tears, damage, repairs, backing. Newman values this at $5,000 in VG and for good reason. While this note won't likely make it that high, it would not surprise us to see this rarity land in an advanced collection where it will likely reside for many years to come.
Current Bid: $ 1,500.00

Estimate: ($ 2,500.00 - $ 5,000.00)
