Grade:

A rare large size note from this Perry County bank that has only four large notes recorded. The last one offered was in 2007 and realized $2,530. The signatures are very light but the circulation is even and decent. Duquoin was first settled by non-natives as early as 1803 and takes its name from Jean-Baptiste Du Quoin, son of a Frenchman and native woman and chief of the Tamaroa tribe who originally settled the area. A rail line passed near town in the early 1840s, prompting rapid growth leading to incorporation in 1853.
