There are just over two dozen large notes reported on this charter, with possibly only one better. The purple stamped signatures have mostly faded on this example. Clinton was originally founded in 1835 as a midway oasis between Decatur and Bloomington. It was visited regularly by Abraham Lincoln during his days as a lawyer as well as during his Presidential campaign in 1858.
