Stamped purple signatures enhance the appearance of this scarce Kane County large size note. Geneva is the county seat of Kane County, located on the western side of the Chicago suburbs. Geneva was first settled in the 1830s on an important route from Chicago. The town was platted in 1837 and was probably named after Geneva, New York. Before the name Geneva was chosen, the names LaFox, Big Spring, and Herrington's Ford were used.
