The famed Black Charter notes are probably the best known variety in the National field. As many as 14 banks from around the country were issued black charter numbered notes, and this Green Bay bank is one of the most difficult to obtain. Two notes are known, but the second example was privately placed several years ago into very strong hands. I don't expect that note to be available in the foreseeable future, leaving this vivid example your only opportunity to acquire this great rarity for some time. The colors are intense and the contrast, normally excellent on these First Charters, is enhanced even more by the black charter number. A truly stunning banknote. Signed by Wm. J.
