This is a very rare bank that was chartered in 1908. At that time it was located in the town of Hillyard, a name that can be found on the large size notes. By the time the bank issued small size Hillyard had been absorbed by the growing city of Spokane, just to the south. The bank closed in 1931 after issuing a mere 305 sheets of Type 1 $10s and a miserly 84 sheets of $20s! There are currently four small notes recorded, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Only one small note has ever been offered before now, to the best of our knowledge. That occurred in our March 2007 sale when an AU sold for $13,800 in a heated battle. This second opportunity may not reach that level, but the demand for rare Washington notes is still there. A new piece to the census and perfect for the grade.
