Watervliet is just west of Troy, NY across the Hudson River. In 1847, the Watervliet post office changed its name to West Troy, which it kept until 1896 when the town of Watervliet was incorporated. The bank changed its title in 1905. A number of high grade notes from here have been known for years, but they are well dispersed and examples don't appear as often as they used to. This piece has a wavy cut on top but ample margins all around. A light streak of what may be rubber band contamination is seen on the back.
