They don't get much rarer than this. A First Charter only bank, this institution failed in 1882 after 18 years in business. During that time, it circulated a total issue of $239,700. By the 1910 audit, its outstanding had been reduced to $1,542. Fire, flood and pestilence took care of most of that such that today we can only account for perhaps three survivors. This attractive Ace is new to the census and currently the only $1 known on the bank. There is some expert restoration along the top edge, but it is so well done that a casual inspection would miss it completely. Rarities such as this are always hard to estimate, but I expect the collectors will not allow it to go cheap.
