A bright, fresh serial #1 Brownback that was saved by the bank president, Dudley Waters, a long time leading banker in the city. The lot includes a typed note that reads "This is the first note rec'd by this bank. Top note from Sheet #1l Fr. #477. From the Collection of Bank Pres. Dudley E. Waters. Notation in Pencil on the back of note 'Signed April, 1903'. Also notation in margin still attached to note on the front stating the amount of sheets counted that was sent to the bank. This note was evidently carried by Pres. Waters for showing purposes". Notes from this bank aren't rare but this one has history and is a #1 note. From the Louis Van Belkum Collection.
