Many collectors don't realize how scarce this Kansas City $1,000 really is. The Schwartz/Lindquist reference shows it to be only marginally better, and even prices it in Choice and Gem CU. While I do recall seeing a couple of nice examples many years ago in a Bowers sale, they must not have made it to PMG or PCGS as neither service has yet to grade anything CU. Actually, the total number of notes from Kansas City graded by each is on par with Boston! In spite of this lack of availability prices are still very reasonable. This is one that may not come around again for a while.
