This bank was chartered in 1888 as the First National Bank of Bar Harbor, Eden and later changde to the First National Bank of Bar Harbor, Bar Harbor, and this was the only national bank in either community. Red Seals were the first notes printed with the second title. Only 120 sheets of $10-10-10-20 Red Seals were issued and both the "A" position #1 notes were saved. There are four notes with the other title and two notes, besides the #1, with this title. I can't think of a more interesting Maine bank to find in a #1 Red Seal and with this amazing quality.
