National Bank Notes > New York

Argyle, First NB, E8343
Fr. 615 $10 1902RS #1
Grade: XF/AU
Here is a fabulous New York rarity that will surely create some excitement. Only 406 sheets of Red Seals and 2,871 sheets of Blue Seals were printed, along with an insignificant number of small size sheets. Small notes are still unreported and just two large notes are known. Up until December 2008, Track and Price, with access to data covering decades of auctions and price lists, had never seen a note offered on this bank. At that time, we offered a newly-discovered $10 1902 Plain Back, which brought a total of $12,075. We even mentioned then that a serial #1 Red Seal existed, but had no idea where it was. Well, here it is, and WOW, what a peach! The paper is as bright as the day it was printed, the colors are undiminished and there is nary a flaw to report. Even if you won the unique Blue Seal, how could you pass this note? And if you didn't, you have a chance to acquire the finest possible note on the bank. Signed by John B. Conway, President, and C. R. Owen, Cashier. Included is a real photo postcard of the bank. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
