There were two issuing banks in Newport and both produced Red Seals. This is by far the most available, with 73 large notes in the census. The total Red Seals printed came to 5,640 sheets, leaving behind nine survivors. Believe it or not, that makes this the type note choice for New Hampshire. Fortunately it has all the attributes the type collector requires. Full margins, great color and nice signatures are only part of the picture. The high grade and fancy charter number also add something. Stack's had a group of these back in 2007, but nothing has been available since then. Penned and stamped signatures of S. M. Richards, President, and Samuel D. Lewis, Cashier. This piece was purchased privately in 2000. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
