Pana, NB, M6734
Fr. 613 $10 1902RS
Grade:
Fine
Pana had two national banks to serve its public, but not at the same time. One was a very rare, Brown Back-only bank in business for less than a year, and this institution with 26 large notes reported and about a dozen small size. There is some question whether one or two Red Seals exist. Kelly reported one and Track and Price shows a second serial number, but that could be a misreading of the first. Still a tough note to come by, since only 2,725 sheets of Red Seals were issued. The pen signatures of L. A. Goddard, President, and C. W. Bainbridge, Cashier, are bold and strong. A real photo postcard of a popcorn wagon shows the bank in the background. Worth $2,875 when it last sold in 2007. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
