Lot #3047 - Henry, First NB, M1482

National Bank Notes > Illinois

Henry, First NB, M1482
Fr. 686 $100 1902RS
Grade: VF
This is the first of two national banks to be located in Henry. Its best times were in the late 1800s. By the turn of the century, it was time to order Red Seals, and only 160 sheets of $50-$100 were requested. Orders of 1902 Date backs and Plain backs that followed were not much larger. As a result, only nine examples remain for collectors on this large-only bank. This is the sole Red Seal example. Luckily for you it is a problem-free and nicely-signed specimen from a 1997 R. M. Smythe sale. A wonderful $100 Red Seal destined for an important Illinois collection or a high-end type set. Pen-signed by Chas. R. Jones, President, and L. L. Jones, Cashier. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
