There were seven national banks chartered in this Essex County community and four issued Red Seals. This bank issued 5,750 sheets of $5-$5-$5-$5 and 4,400 sheets of $10-$10-$10-$20. This #1 note is absolutely a beauty that has wonderful pen signatures of S. P. Gardner, President, and C. E. Dole, Cashier. This came from the Marblehead Collection, sold in Memphis in 2000.
