This note was unknown in private hands until one Sunday afternoon at a coin show around Milwaukee this note walked up to Kevin Foley's table and when he recognized its rarity he acquired it. Not much time passed before I was made aware of the discovery and it was placed in the prestigious collection of Jim Thompson. Subsequently it sold with the rest of his gold certificates in 1990, making its one and only public appearance. I feel fortunate to offer this unique Bruce-Wyman small brown seal gold certificate in its original, as discovered condition. A pleasing Fine or better with decent centering, excellent color and without problems. According to Gene Hessler's Comprehensive Catalog of U.S. Paper Money, the issue was 40,000 notes. The only other known notes are in Federal Reserve Bank collections.
