Lot #2316 - Lansing, NB, 1953

Unique State Capital Bank

National Bank Notes > Michigan

Lansing, NB, 1953
Fr. 416 $10 1875
Grade: Fine
A great Michigan rarity that remains unique and is likely to stay that way. It was chartered in 1872 and liquidated at the end of its charter in 1892. The bank only issued $10 and $20 First Charters - 4,856 sheets altogether. There were four national banks in Lansing and all are relatively available except this one. Your window of opportunity is short on this Ingham County note. This note was signed by Orlando Mack Barnes, President (he was also mayor) and M.S. Coleman, Cashier. This note fits the bill for Dr. Lee's collection: the earliest known note in the best possible condition. UNIQUE it is! Certainly a great state capital rarity. Previously from our June 2004 sale where it reached $14,950. The Dr. Wallace Lee Collection.
Current Bid: $ 6,500.00

Estimate: ($ 10,000.00 - $ 20,000.00)
