Hillsdale, First NB, 168
Fr. 466 $5 1882BB
Grade:
XF/AU
Hillsdale was home to three national banks and this was the earliest, being chartered in 1863. It went into receivership in mid-1934. This bank has 12 large notes reported. This isn't the first known First Charter but it's a peach of a $5 Brown Back that will be very desirable. The pen signatures of F. Prentice, Assistant Cashier and F.M. Stewart, President greatly enhance this impressive Brown Back. We sold a similar note in the Power collection in 2006 for $3,220. This note has the illustrious pedigree to the Grinnell sale, Lot 1885. An impressive $5 Brown Back. The Dr. Wallace Lee Collection.
