Lot #2392 - Saginaw, First NB, 1768

National Bank Notes > Michigan

Saginaw, First NB, 1768
Fr. 405 $5 1875
Grade: VF +
this bank was chartered in 1871 and it was the earliest of four banks chartered there. It closed in 1899 and just five notes have survived, two are Original Series, two are 1875 Series and one is a Brown Back. This note is lovely and much prettier than the census indicates. Great pen signatures but I cannot decipher them. The back does have three folds that are hard. I sold a $1 in VF 20-25 at $10,925 in 2004 and a Fine at $4,887 in 2007. The VF resold in 2010 at $6,325. I think this note is prettier than either of those. The Dr. Wallace Lee Collection.
Current Bid: $ 3,200.00
