This bank was chartered as East Saginaw in 1872 and took this title in 1891. A number of early notes are known. This is one of six $5 Brown Backs and all but one grade like this. There are 55 large notes reported of all types. This note has excellent pen signatures of W.A. Avery, Vice President and Edwin W. Glynn, Cashier. In January 2007 one of the known Brown Backs brought $2,990. The Dr. Wallace Lee Collection.
