Fr. 11 $20 1861 Face & Reverse Proofs
Grade:
PMG Ch. UNC 63
This is one of the most exciting offerings of the entire sale because these early $20 Demand Note Proofs, or Specimens, are excessively rare and desirable as part of the earliest days of our Federal currency. Both the face and back designs are mounted on a single piece of card stock, each has four small holes where the signatures would have gone and the serial numbers are all zeros (00000). The $20 Demand Note has always been rare and elusive and these proof/specimens are equally so. Even the Frank Levitan Collection had a two-sided specimen printed on bank note paper. I have seen no other examples of these items. Graded Ch. UNC 63 by PMG.
