Fr. 581 $10/$20 1882VB Double Denomination Pair
Grade:
PCGS Abt. New 50
This is one of the rarest pairs of National Bank Notes and they come from a sheet of Value Backs that have the back flipped and the face printed right side up. Each note is a $30 note. One has a $10 face and $20 back while the other has a $20 face and a $10 back. Each of the notes has the stamped signatures of Robert J. Lowry, President and Warner Martin, Cashier. This pair is impeccable but each is only graded AU 50, likely because of the orientation of the margins caused by the back being flipped. I count these among the $50/$100 notes from the same sheet like the Albuquerque, New Mexico Territory $50/$100 Brown Back Double Denomination or the $50/$100 #1 Brown Back from San Francisco or the $50/$100 #1 Red Seal pairs. There are just very few pairs in this rarity group. Two piece lot.
